What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Similar technology lets a website store information in your browser too. This page explains what eventcarhire.co.uk uses and why.
We use the cookies needed to run the site, and, only if you accept, Google Analytics cookies to understand how people use it. We don't use advertising cookies.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Remembers your visit as you move between pages, for example your trip details and, for suppliers, that you're signed in. | About 2 hours after your last visit |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Security: protects forms from being submitted by other websites. | About 2 hours |
| Stripe cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) | Set by Stripe on the booking page to process your payment securely and prevent fraud. | Up to 1 year |
These cookies are strictly necessary for the site to work, so they don't need your consent.
Analytics cookies (only if you accept)
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit, how they found us and how they move around the site, so we can improve it. It doesn't tell us who you are. Google processes this information for us; see Google's Privacy Policy.
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics: tells visits apart, so we can count visitors. | 2 years |
| _ga_4YVLXWVTTX | Google Analytics: keeps track of your current visit. | 2 years |
These are only set after you click Accept on our cookie banner. If you reject them, or haven't chosen yet, Google may still receive basic, anonymous information without cookies (such as that a page was viewed), which can't be used to identify you or follow you between visits.
We remember your choice in your browser. You can change it at any time:
Information stored in your browser
When you request a quote, we save a short note in your browser (not a cookie) so vehicle pages can show "Quote requested" or "Already quoted" next to vehicles you've asked about. It's kept for 60 days and never leaves your device except to check the quote's status with our site.
We also save your cookie choice (accept or reject) in your browser, so we don't ask again on every page.
Other services
The site loads fonts, icons and code libraries from Google Fonts and content delivery networks (such as cdnjs and jsDelivr), which receive your IP address to deliver them. Postcode suggestions use postcodes.io. Maps on vehicle pages are drawn using OpenStreetMap. These services don't set cookies on our site, but they have their own privacy policies.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above, parts of the site, such as saving your trip, booking and payment, won't work properly.
For more about how we use personal information, see our Privacy Policy.
